Bird Watching
The stillness of night
Surrendered to the melody
Of blackbird and robin.
Sun entangled the branches,
Loosening their leaves.
A palm awoke enough
To receive an offering.
My face shaded in
The shadow of an old oak tree.
I wondered how long until dusk.
I saw a morning dove
Not far from me,
I thought it will never know the ways
In which it defines love and peace.
